In 2008, the National Association of Jazz Educators folded. To fill the void left by its international and statewide organizations, the Jazz Education Connection of Ohio was established.
Soon afterward, JECO entered into an agreement with the Ohio Music Education Association, and has since been featured regularly in contributions to TRIAD, its monthly publication, on a wide range of topics in jazz education. As the first affiliate member of the Jazz Education Network (JEN), JECO continues in its efforts to promote jazz in the schools at all levels statewide.
